Jerk
The Olympic lifts including the jerk have gained massive popularity over the last few years. Movements that previously were only used by athletes competing in olympic weightlifting are now staples in the program for teamsport and power athletes, CrossFit and Functional Fitness athletes, but also for recreational lifters looking to improve explosive strength and power. In an olympic weightlifting competition the jerk is always completed after a clean. In a CrossFit or Functional Fitness competition the jerk can also be a stand alone movement from either blocks or from rack. As a training tool for explosive strength or recreational lifter you´ll have to consider if it should be done alone from a rack or together with the clean.
